I applaud you for acknowledging Da Vinci Code's antecedent Holy Blood/Holy Grail. You will find insight in Knight and Lomas's the Second Messiah. DVC isn't really original. See the 1999 video game by Jane Jensen Blood of Sacred Blood of Damned.
